Sunday Roast - The Lifestyle
By James Frinzi & Jodi Frinzi
James and Jodi are from Texas and now live in Dubai. Their daughter went to school in the UK, and James’s long career in politics has taken him to the United Kingdom many times over the years.
The first Sunday Roast arrived almost by accident. James was in London when a member of parliament from Scotland was coming to visit. While talking it over with a very British friend, the suggestion came up that they should take the MP to a Sunday Roast. The reaction was immediate and unmistakable: the MP lit up as if he had just won the lottery and declared it the best idea he had heard all week. The enthusiasm was infectious. James found himself properly amped, and the anticipation built through the rest of the week. When the meal finally arrived, it absolutely exceeded every expectation. It was simply phenomenal. That single afternoon started the mission!
What began as a discovery quickly became a tradition. Sunday Roast is more than a meal. It is the ritual of pulling family and friends together for something proper, something shared, something that feels like a small Thanksgiving every single week. The food matters, of course, but so do the company, the conversation, and the quiet sense that the week has been marked properly.
James and Jodi have now become dedicated students of the form. Their mission is straightforward: to have as many Sunday Roasts as possible, with old friends and new ones, across the UK and in their home in Dubai — a city with its own deep currents of British culture. This publication is the record of that pursuit. They will review the places, rate the roasts, and try to capture what makes the experience special.
They are here to celebrate the beauty of Sunday Roast and to invite readers to join in the tradition — whether you have been doing it for years or are only just discovering why so many people treat Sunday as sacred.
Sunday Roast is one tradition. Politics is another.

Why subscribe?
Subscribe to Sunday Roast Social for three simple reasons.
First, to hear about Sunday Roasts from the UK and Dubai — the places we seek them out, the people we share them with, and the stories that come with a proper roast on a Sunday afternoon.
Second, for reviews that help you choose well. Not every roast is equal. We look for the ones that are properly cooked, thoughtfully served, and worth gathering around, so you know where to go when you want the real thing.
Third, because we are curating Sunday Roast experiences. This is more than a list of places. It is an invitation to celebrate and share a passion for one of the greatest traditions to come out of the UK — the simple, recurring magic of pulling people together over a roast every Sunday.
